Earlier this week, over 50 attendees from around the state gathered in Little Rock, Arkansas for the Future Legacy Young and Beginning Farmers Conference hosted by Farm Credit Associations of Arkansas.

The conference kicked off with representatives from each of the Farm Credit associations talking about the importance of young and beginning farmers.

Conference Kickoff Brandon Haberer, Farm Credit of Western AR CEO/President, addresses the group.

Throughout the conference, Dr. Dave Kohl, Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech and agriculture industry expert, shared financial planning advice and trends to watch in agriculture.

Dr. Kohl shares his insights. Dr. Kohl shared trends in agriculture and advice on how participants could future-proof their operations.

We were proud to partner with AgHeritage Farm Credit Services and Farm Credit Mid-America to provide this opportunity for young, beginning, and small farmers in Arkansas.

Providing resources and education to those getting started in agriculture is a priority of the Farm Credit System. The Future Legacy Young and Beginning Farmers Conference is a free educational and networking opportunity hosted biennially by Farm Credit Associations of Arkansas.

The Turners are young, beginning farmers from western Arkansas. Throughout the conference, attendees are encouraged to participate and take an active role in the learning process.

At the conference, attendees meet likeminded farmers from across the state and make connections that last a lifetime.

Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward addressed the group about current agriculture issues in the state. Other guest speakers covered topics ranging from mental health of the farm to estate planning.
