Intern Spotlight: Flossie Glinski
As the summer draws to an end, we bring recognition to our six incredible interns. Learn more about communications intern Flossie Glinski and her experiences with Farm Credit.
Through her academic and personal experiences, Flossie Glinski has found her purpose in communicating with others. This summer, she joined Farm Credit of Western Arkansas as a marketing intern, combining two of her greatest passions—Arkansas agriculture and communications.
Flossie is a senior public relations student at Arkansas Tech University, with minors in business and social media. She is from Damascus, Arkansas, and operates out of Farm Credit’s corporate headquarters in Russellville. Flossie enjoys thrifting, music, being outdoors, photography, and spending time with her friends and her dog, Ollie.
As an intern, Flossie assists Farm Credit’s marketing team by creating and distributing marketing materials and exercising skills in photography, writing, and graphic design.
Throughout the summer, Flossie has written articles for Farm Credit’s magazine The Rural Scene and website, designed social media graphics, and created deliverables for events. Though her assignments entail marketing, Flossie has followed valuable advice—to learn from every position and department.
“Some days, I’d tag along with field services interns on their farm visits,” she said. “One day, JD Smith and I visited a member in Rudy. We rode over 800 acres, checking cattle and taking in the beauty of western Arkansas. When we got back, our regional evaluator Paul invited me to ride along on an appraisal. Through experiences like these, I’ve learned so much about how Farm Credit operates and better understand the organization I’m promoting. Seeing customers' operations is incredible, especially when you begin to understand the hard work that goes into financing and supporting their dreams.”
Aside from her internship, Flossie has embraced other opportunities to support Arkansas agriculture. She was a stage photographer at the 96th and 97th Arkansas FFA Conventions and assists the livestock director at the Arkansas State Fair. In high school, she was involved in FFA and livestock exhibition on local, state, and national levels.
“My entire life, I’ve loved writing,” she said. “I’ve loved taking pictures. And I love agriculture. Now, it’s all coming together. I get to use these skills to promote the industry that feeds the world."
This summer, Flossie has grown exponentially through hands-on marketing experience, contributing creativity and passion to Farm Credit and rural western Arkansas.
"I’ve learned so much. It’s one thing to take a college course on a design program, but now I use those skills to reach thousands of people. In my short time with Farm Credit, I’ve witnessed everyone’s passion and genuine care for our members. Everyone cares about me, about our members, and about Arkansas agriculture. It’s been incredible to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. Not only does Farm Credit support and encourage our members’ dreams, but they do everything possible to make them a reality.”
