Intern Spotlight: Brady Jackson
As the summer draws to an end, we bring recognition to our six incredible interns. Learn more about field services intern Brady Jackson and his experiences with Farm Credit.
For Brady Jackon, Farm Credit is a family affair. His father has been a member of the organization for over 20 years. After witnessing his connection with Farm Credit, Brady decided to create his own by pursuing a summer internship. As a field services intern, he travels throughout southwest Arkansas to conduct chattel evaluations and visit members’ farms, learning about different agricultural operations and meeting Farm Credit members.
Brady is from Foreman, Arkansas and recently married his wife, Ansleigh. He is a senior studying agriculture business at Southern Arkansas University and operates out of the Texarkana branch. His day-to-day operations include collecting the notes and information necessary for that day’s visits, then setting out on chattel inspections. On slow days, Brady enjoys helping around the office and learning from his coworkers.
“I have been fortunate to meet so many great people within the Farm Credit organization,” he said. “Everyone that I have met throughout my time has been extremely helpful and has always looked out for me. I have learned extremely valuable information about agriculture and many other things from everyone in the office, as well as from many customers in the field. Every customer has been extremely welcoming of me onto their farm.”
As a field services intern, Brady has visited with members from across western Arkansas. His time with the organization has led him down many paths and to many members, each with a unique and inspiring story to share.
Brady's roots in agriculture were planted in 1945 when his family began raising cattle and quarter horses in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He grew up extensively involved in his family’s ranch and has dreamed of helping to grow and improve it for as long as he can remember.
Brady enjoys hunting and fishing, working on the farm, and spending time with his friends, family, and his labradoodle, Sadie. He worked at the Columbia County Farmers Association for around a year and learned many things from his coworkers and customers. His experiences there helped prepare him to be able to relate to and have good conversations with Farm Credit customers while in the field.
“I have learned many things and been given some great advice throughout the summer,” he said. “One thing that really stood out to me was seeing how different customers were able to have successful but very different operations. I have seen many different management styles for raising livestock or row cropping, and it has been very interesting to hear many different viewpoints.”
At the conclusion of his internship, Brady hopes to continue working for Farm Credit and to grow and improve his family farm. Throughout his time with the organization, he has heard success stories from farmers, homeowners, and members, and hopes to continue to provide those opportunities to rural western Arkansans.
“I have seen and heard many stories of how Farm Credit has helped to support farmers,” he said. “From helping a customer build their dream home, buying their first group of cattle, to buying their ideal farm. Farm Credit’s goal is to help its members. My goal is the same.”
